TVIS-EXX

The TVIS-EX3 is the latest model in the evolution of Tablet Visual Inspection System. The TVIS-EX3 utilizes new state of the art concepts and technologies that are based on proven concepts used by the TVIS-EX2.
The result is higher accuracy with processing capacity. Based on the valuable customer opinions, the TVIS-EX3 has advanced user-friendly operational system.

   Inspection Functions
Uncoated, film-coated, sugar-coated tablets with printed mark on one or both sides; scored tablets; tablets with engraved mark

Round tablets:
5-12 mm in diameter and 2-8 mm in thickness
Shaped tablets:
5-12 mm in width, 2-8 mm in thinkness,
5-21 mm in length Non-standard shape tablet is also applicable.

Dirt, scratch, adherence of foreign particle, crack, chip, deformation, different color, discoloration, scratchy print, blurred print, hair, mottled tablet, etc.
(Algorithm to improve inspection accuracy has been added.)
Face, back, and side
Defects equivalent to a 50micrometer square or larger black speck
350,000 tablets/hour (actual value; dia. 6mm) The value may vary according to the size and shape of tablets.

    Features of the System
The unique round-belt suction transfer mechanism firmly fixes tablets on the belt while keeping the tablets intact and the latest image processing technology enables detection of a 50 square of larger black speck on tablets.

A newly developed algorithm has further imroved the detection of defective tablets such as those listed below.

  • Defects due to hair or fibers of 50 or less
  • Defects due to dirt or foreign matter on mottled tablets
  • Minute chips on the bottom of tablets with printed marks on one side
  • Minute chips on the edge of tablets
Optional cameras for the face and bottom may be added to enable recognition and inspection of embossing and scores.
The precision of inspecting defective roughness (chips, blotches, peeled coating, etc.) on the face and bottom will be noticeably improved by using this ring illumination system.
Tablet type changeover time has been shortened by decreasing the number of parts to replace, reducing the weight of parts, plus simplifying detachment and attachment procedures.
Weight of parts for respective units has also been reduced so that the physical strength of the operator does not affect his/her ability to change parts.
The inspection subsystem, rear side of the inspection subsystem and trough are made simple and visible in structure, thus facilitating confirmation of residual tablets.
Parts in contact with tablets are easy to remove and washable.
The suction belt system produces stable transfer and soft handling of tablets. A mechanism for improving alignment efficiency on the flow-control turntable has been developed to ensure stable transfer up to 350.000 tablets per hour (6mm flat round tablet), which is a 50% throughput increase (compared to the conventional model)*. A new function to confirm inspection time-elapse has also been added with a graphic screen to show processing capacity and defective ratio.

※May vary according to the shape and condition of tablets.
Photos of defective tablets can be consulted on the inspection screen (touch screen) and their waveforms may also be checked on the adjacent windows. This function visually shows a detection mechanism for defective tablets by the inspection system.
Improvement in continuous operability
The inspection system is able to keep continuous operation with the function to automatically solve a blockage caused by half-cracked tablets.
Continuous operability for uncoated tablets is also considerably improved by increasing powder collection ports on the flow-control turntable, adding powder recognition software, altering specifications for the rejection sensors and altering the shape of the powder collecting cleaner on the disc conveyor unit.
Ring and vertical lighting units are employed as the side lighting units. While both lighting units were required for the conventional EXX model, a film attachment may be mounted to the ring lighting unit of the EX2 model to alter the lighting unit to vertical lighting unit, thus markedly reducing cost.
A function to support the operator in obtaining optimum camera focus has been improved for better inspection precision
